S2 2024/25 Oscillation Waves and Optics
This course covers various concepts of oscillations, waves and optics which are an integral part of module 2 of the CAPE syllabus. The topics in this course have widespread applications in areas of mathematics such as calculus, differential equation and mechanics which constitute 45% of the courses. It can also be applied to several areas of chemistry, biology, medicine and mechanical and civil engineering. The course has a laboratory component that accompanies this course which constitutes 75% of the courses.
This course is designed to prepare student teachers to become specialists of high calibre and to be able to transfer these attitudes, process skills and physical concepts to their students. It also provides opportunities for student teachers to upgrade their qualification in the subject area, taking into account the requirements of continued study at the university level.
The concepts of oscillations, waves and optics are an essential part of CAPE Physics. The knowledge of this course will help students to become effective teachers in imparting content at an advanced level.
